“ Sometimes you take for granted how good a local gem like Tavern By The Sea really is. Having lived in Wickford for over 20 years and in RI for a whole lot more, you get jaded with all the hype of Newport and Narragansett and Providence to eat out. And you forget about a local delight like Tavern By The Sea. The food is consistently tasty and expertly prepared, the service is always friendly, courteous and efficient and the bar staff mixes a great cocktail. We stopped in today for a late afternoon lunch and were reminded of this great local establishment, enjoying the late August weather on the back patio. A great environment! It's really great seaside bistro/taverna cuisine. Nothing fancy but delicious all the same. Glad we stopped by to get reacquainted. ”
“ Great food, depending on what your palate is. Mostly seafood but the staff was accommodating with dietary restrictions and allergies. The drink menu had a variety of options but I wouldn't recommend a mixed cocktail as the proportion of ingredients seemed a bit off, although the server offered to make a new drink when she noticed I wasn't drinking it, very kind!!! The ambiance is relaxing, great view, peaceful, nice spot on a busy street to sit back and enjoy a girls dinner or date night. Great spot for the family too! You can do some shopping before or after at the surrounding small business stores too. ”
“ Dine in | Dinner | $100+ First time here and we're seated within minutes. Our waiter Austin was outstanding and the food delicious...really good drinks also. My wife and I had a great time. ”
“ Totally recommend coming! Service was great- good refills on drinks, checked on us, and friendly! Sit by the water if you can- they have umbrellas for really sunny days too. The music was fabulous and not too loud. Of course, the FOOD! The burger was juicy and delicious and ohmygod the sweet potato fries were so good. My friends loveddd their regular fries too and we all finished every single bite. Also really convenient spot if you're in Wickford Village. Stop by! ”
“ Excellent service, cute outdoors deck. The Hummus was well seasoned, refreshing and delicious. The fish and chips were lightly beer battered (Sam Adams!) flaky, tender and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Most places thickly batter their fish and it over powers the dish, this was perfection. Sofie got the Cajun chicken dish which she said had lots of flavor, heated spice and creaminess. She really enjoyed it! Sue got the shrimp scampi and she loved the intricate flavor medley and hints of saltiness the green olives brought to the dish. The only constructive guidance we'd offer is if you can put in additional bathroom stalls-you've got the plumbing (sink/running water) in place already. The one stall and waiting in a line 14 people deep on a not busy night was really a downer and likely we would not return because of this issue. It's really a shame this is a great restaurant!! ”
“ Not only is Tavern by the Sea unique in its location, literally hovering over a tranquil pond adjacent to the Wickford Marina, but also in its unique menu! Who would have expected perfectly grilled octopus and elegantly prepared risotto from a clapboard seaside eatery? Or generously portioned lobster and scallop pasta? Service is laid back but professional and we never felt rushed, even though we enjoyed our tiramisu martini and espresso until close. Simply wonderful! ”
“ Who would think you'd find a Greek restaurant in this little town? Had lunch with my daughter-in-law while on a visit to RI. We got a seat immediately on the outdoor deck. Our waitress was wonderful and friendly. We decided to split a chicken wrap sandwich tzatziki sauce (my fave). It was delicious! We also got their sweet potato fries which were just as yummy! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely return on my next visit!! ”
“ Food was tasty. We got calamari and hummus plates for apps, and we had the NE clam chowder, lobster bisque, a caesar salad, lobster and scallops on pasta, truffle parmesan fries, lobster raviolis, baked scrod, and beef short ribs ragu on parpadelle pasta. The meal overall was very good but the lobster bisque was very salty and the parpadelle pasta was all stuck together. Also when we first arrived we were told they would have no bigger tables to accommodate our party of five and they wouldn't be able to seat us at a bigger table even though we made a reservation a week prior for five of us. ”
